Carol graduated in medicine from Cambridge University. She then spent several years in different hospital specialities, including orthopaedics and rheumatology, before entering general practice when her first son was born.

General practice offered Carol the ideal setting for keeping up to date with medical advances while also honing her skills in child health.

Carol’s writing and broadcasting developed after the publication of her first book, and she is now well-known as a media medic. She writes for The Sun newspaper and a range of other titles. She also appears regularly on TV and radio, giving her expert medical opinion on a wide range of topical health issues.

Carol’s books are mainly on child health and parenting, including the much-loved Twins & Multiple Births. Most of her titles are a fusion of her professional expertise and her personal experience as a mother of three sons (including twins). As co-author of the book General Practice at a Glance, Carol won a British Medical Association book award (2013).

Articles written for fellow doctors and other health professionals can be found in the Lancet, BMJ, BMA News, GMC Today, British Journal of Hospital Medicine, Health Service Journal, Women’s Health Journal, Postgraduate Medical Journal and British Journal of Rheumatology.

Alongside her writing and broadcasting, Carol teaches medical students at Imperial College School of Medicine. She also works as honorary consultant in family medicine for Tamba (Twins and Multiple Births Association), and delivers pre-natal sessions to expectant parents of twins, triplets or more.

Carol’s charity work includes Arthritis Care, the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society, National Osteoporosis Society, Action on Pre-Eclampsia and Lucy Air Ambulance for Children.

Carol has also written a novel, One Night at the Jacaranda, which is garnering excellent reviews. It is a finalist in the Indie Excellence Awards 2014 and a quarter-finalist in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Awards 2014.
